Hey look, it’s some freelance work!

Proudly presenting the newly redesigned Broken River Vineyards.

I’ve finally completed my first freelance site in ages. Only took about a month longer than I thought it would. But I didn’t have to worry about displeasing the client too much by how long it took. It’s my uncle’s vineyard. Keeping it in the family!

I’m pleased with it. I’ve finally ditched the tables I always relied on for layout and have divs and a CSS working the way they’re supposed to. It was interesting trying to explain to my uncle why it was important he have a web site that wasn’t all flashy and full of bling (why do the majority of non-web people want that crap?) and that something sleek and simple is always better.

Now all I have to do is get the official Proof site up and I’ll have no more freelance work to do. Except my dad’s web site – which I’m trying to avoid. Sorry dad.

43 days til my flight. Booyah!

There’s a hill

There’s this hill near work. It’s the quickest way to work when I’m on my bike. It’s not a big hill and I’m sure the incline isn’t that great but I suffer every time I struggle up it, especially after I’ve been the gym the night before.

But every time I’m struggling up the hill, I tell myself this is the hardest thing I have to do today.

And most of the time, it’s true.

Anyhoo… my flights to and from Seattle are bought, I’ve filled in my ETSA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) application and had it approved. They’re letting me in the country, which is nice. I’m pretty much set to go. Just have to work out how I’m getting from Los Angeles to San Francisco. 55 days to go.
